The best olive oil and olives come from Aetolo Acarnania, Greece
Makryneia is an area in the province of Aetolo Acarnania in Greece, surrounded by high seas and located on the largest lake in Greece, the 'Trichonida' lake. This area is full of old olive trees with an average age of about 25 to 75 years. The surrounding mountains and the fertile soil on Lake Trichonida provides a unique microclimate resulting in nutrient-rich soil, clean water and fresh air. These conditions have led to olive trees with the highest quality olives and therefore top quality olive oil. Due to the combination of these conditions: lots of sun, the dry climate and the soil type which is only fed by natural rainwater without unnecessary irrigation by farmers, the olive and olive oil has its characteristic taste. The area has been awarded internationally for its high-quality taste and quality.
As Mis Zeytin-Yagi we are proud to represent this area internationally. We work with local farmers who have been cultivating olive trees in the traditional way for generations. They receive a fair price for the products and we take care of quality control and distribution throughout Europe.

How we harvest the olives
Every winter the farmers harvest the olives. The farmers harvest the fresh olives mainly by hand or with special rakes and nets. The olives are carefully removed from the branch of the olive tree. The olives are collected in nets so that they can be separated from the leaves and branches. After this, all the harvested olives for olive oil are taken to the press together in jute bags. The olives for consumption go to a traditional factory

Cold pressed olive oil
At the local selected presses, the olives are washed, ground and cold-pressed the same day. The end result is organic extra virgin olive oil. In order to be allowed to use the label of Extra Virgin olive oil, strict guidelines regarding purity and acidity are imposed. Naturally, our olive oil is always Laboratories tested and our olive oil perfectly meets these standards. To keep our olive oil as healthy, tasty and qualitative as possible, we always press within 24 hours after harvesting, store the olive oil in barrels and bottle it in glass bottles and stainless steel cans that are stored between 15 and 17 degrees. A pure and honest product brimming with flavor and passion! Extra virgin olive oil is the best olive oil out there. It is a beautiful, natural oil made from the best olives with the lowest acidity and the best taste. Our Extra virgin olive oil is oil that has not been heated and without additional additives. So pure and healthy.
Pickling the olives, the traditional way
As soon as the olives are picked, they are then brought to our traditional factory. Only traditional ingredients are used here and no artificial preservatives: just water, local sea salt, local wine vinegar and oil. The olives are sorted by size, after which they are hand-selected 1 by 1 and assessed for quality by our experienced employees. After this, they are packed in jars of different sizes in water, sea salt, wine vinegar and oil. Then carefully packed according to international standards for safe shipping worldwide.

Olives are delicious as a snack, for breakfast or in a salad. You can eat them as is, but also use them as an ingredient for a tapenade. You can use olives as a garnish or in a nice fresh salad. Olives can also be a delicious addition to hot dishes. Think of a pasta sauce or with a grilled dish.
